Message from the President
Fall is in full swing and our chapter activity is in high gear! Read on to learn about upcoming education and service opportunities in November and December.

Many of you participated in our membership directory survey in September. We were pleased to see overwhelming support for taking the directory to an online format and saving printing and design costs. Later this month, TSCPA will launch TSCPA Exchange, an online member-to-member platform that will connect us not only to each other, but to members across the state. TSCPA Exchange offers a more dynamic search function, as well as the ability for you to personalize what information is shared with others. Watch your email and our social media channels for details on the launch and how you can set your profile up and get connected!

The change from a printed directory to an online format took away the opportunity for advertisers to support the chapter and promote their businesses. In response to this change, the chapter is now offering a variety of sponsorship opportunities. Sponsor revenue helps offset chapter expenses and helps us grow our programs and services even more! Read on for more details.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at our next luncheon on Nov. 17! Please share any ideas and thoughts with me at I want to hear from you!

As always, thank you for your membership!

Jennifer M. Perales, CPA
2017-2018 Chapter President

We’re proud to have her as a member of our chapter and an active participant in our student recruitment initiatives.
CCTSCPA Sponsorships
Beginning this year, CCTSCPA is offering a variety of sponsorship opportunities to companies who are interested in connecting with our professional community. Consider sharing our sponsorship proposal with anyone you think could benefit from exposure to local CPAs.
It’s Not Too Late! Volunteer for a Chapter Role
Your membership value increases when you get involved! Now is the time to volunteer and submit your nominations for the 2018-19 leadership!
CPA Mentors Needed!
Local accounting students are eagerly waiting for CPA mentor matches. This is a small time commitment that can make a BIG difference in helping a future CPA learn more about the profession and your experiences as a CPA. If you’re interested in being matched with a student mentee, please email Melinda Bentley.
Counting On Santa Kicks Off on Nov. 17
The Counting On Santa holiday toy drive will kick off at the Nov. 17 luncheon. This year, you’ll again have the opportunity to contribute cash-deductible monetary donations! Thanks to you, our collections grow each year. We’ll celebrate at the Counting On Santa round-up at Brewster’s Ice House on December 12. Watch your email for more details!
Meet the CPAs - Dec. 8
The chapter’s Meet the CPAs luncheons are fun for both our student guests and our CPA members. This year we’re planning a more interactive luncheon than we’ve had in past years. Students will rotate tables giving everyone a chance to meet more people. Even if you aren’t hiring or you’re not in a position to hire, please consider attending on Dec. 8 at Katz 21 to show students how active our CPA community is and to show your passion for your profession. Lunch is free for students and candidates, and CPAs pay only $15. Register by December 1.

Students/Candidates: Email Melinda Bentley to register.
Nominate a CPA in Industry
TSCPA is accepting nominations for the 2017-18 B&I award. The award recognizes the professional accomplishments of CPAs who have spent their careers in B&I and have made significant contributions through the recruitment of others to the CPA profession. Nominations are due by Dec. 31, 2017.
Statewide Meeting Coming to Corpus Christi
All TSCPA members are encouraged to be part of the TSCPA Midyear Board and Member Meeting, on January 26-27 at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel. You can earn CPE as you learn about cutting-edge profession issues and develop powerful executive skills. Help us welcome CPAs from across the state, and take advantage of this great networking opportunity.
