We’re also kicking off several programs that help us connect with students and faculty at TAMUCC, TAMUK, and Del Mar. Building on our relationships with these groups will help ensure a strong future for our firms, our companies, our local business economy, and our profession.
Accounting classrooms across the country are full, and the number of accounting graduates has increased over the last several years.
But the number of people taking the CPA exam is on the decline.
AICPA, TSCPA, and our chapter have been focused on helping students understand the value of obtaining a CPA license. I hope you’ll be able to join us in showing local students how being a CPA makes a difference! Read on to learn more about how you can be involved.
We look forward to seeing you at lunch this month!

Find Talent at TAMUCC’s Accounting Showcase
CCTSCPA members are invited to participate in TAMUCC’s Accounting Showcase on Oct. 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., with a special networking reception prior to the showcase at 4:30 p.m. Bring your firm or your company’s accounting team out to network with students in the Bachelors of Accounting and Masters of Accountancy programs. Registration fees will be waived for members of CCTSCPA.
Be a Mentor. Find a Mentor.
Thanks to the dedication of CPA members and the interest of local accounting students, the chapter’s mentor program continues to be successful with over 50 pairs of mentees and mentors matched since the program began seven years ago. With the start of the new school year we will be matching mentor/mentee pairs at TAMUCC, TAMUK and Del Mar. Consider giving your time to mentor an interested accounting student and shed light on what the profession is all about. It’s a small commitment with BIG impact!
