Message from the President
As we head into the holiday season, we often reflect on what we’re thankful for. CCTSCPA is thankful for you. Your trust in us to protect and promote our profession, deliver quality programs, and bring our professional community together means so much. Thank you!
|Misty Mata, CPA
TSCPA has designated November as CPA Month of Service. What better way to show your gratitude than by giving back? We’ve selected two opportunities that you can read more about below. We know many of you already give back in so many ways. Again, thank you! Your time and love for our community helps the public know how much our profession cares.
And there’s much more going on this month and next! Read on to stay informed.
We look forward to seeing you at this month’s chapter events!

November is CPA Month of Service!
Join CCTSCPA as we give back to our community during CPA Month of Service. TSCPA is encouraging members to give back during November through activities with their families, firms, companies, and chapters. CCTSCPA has TWO events planned!
Young CPAs and accounting students and candidates are invited to join our group for the HEB Miles 4 Meals Glow Walk on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m. After you register, be sure to email email@example.com with your t-shirt size so you can get a CCTSCPA volunteer shirt.
Register to Participate in the HEB Miles 4 Meals Glow Walk.
CCTSCPA is also sending a group to participate in Share-A-Meal at the Ronald McDonald House. We’ll be cooking dinner for the families visiting the Ronald McDonald House, and having fun and fellowship while we work! Join us on Monday, Nov. 14 beginning at 5:00 p.m. (come when you can). Email firstname.lastname@example.org so we know how many people to expect and so you can get your CCTSCPA volunteer shirt.
No matter what service you do during November, please use the hashtag #TXCPAService on your social media posts so TSCPA can see the impact we’re making statewide.

New Book Tells the Story of a CPA’s Work
Carl Chilton, a long time CPA and former president of TSCPA, has written a book describing a series of interesting and challenging experiences encountered by a typical CPA in his work. The book “Harlon Blake, CPA: A Challenging Career”, is a work of fiction with ten chapters describing a variety of situations with which Harlon becomes involved. Chilton feels many people have a misconception of the work done by CPAs, and he decided he wanted to do something about this.
