Message from the President
Jeff Smith
Jeff Smith, CPA
February - the shortest month in the year, yet one of the busiest months at CCTSCPA! Read on to learn about several involvement opportunities available this month. We’ll be hard at work helping members get the CPE they need, protecting our CPA certificates by backing the CPA-PAC, supporting future CPAs with scholarships for their educational pursuits, and showing our community that CPAs care.

Great things happen when we work together, and this month will be no different! We’re still making a big impact - even with fewer days!

I look forward to seeing you at one or more of the events planned in the coming weeks!

Jeff Smith, CPA
Chapter President 2015-16

Bid on gift baskets, gift cards, venue tickets, lodging, and more! We’ll be at the Education Service Center all day. If you’re not able to come out for the CPE, please consider stopping by and making a bid.

CPA-PAC Reception Hosted by IBC Bank
You’re invited to mix at mingle at IBC Bank on Shoreline Blvd. from 5 - 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5. CPA-PAC The event will be hosted by IBC Bank and it will benefit the CPA-PAC.

The CPA-PAC is the Texas Society of CPAs’ member-managed, member-driven and member-focused political action committee that contributes funds to political candidates as well as incumbents who understand the importance of a sound Texas economy and the critical role of the CPA in preserving the state’s business climate. Of all the funds CCTSCPA members contribute to the CPA-PAC, 75 percent stays in the Corpus Christi Chapter for donation to local lawmakers. CPA-PAC contributions, in any amount, are encouraged but not required at the reception.

CPE Luncheon - Feb. 12
Join us for lunch and CPE at the Ortiz Center on Friday, Feb. 12. The topic is Making Sense of Social Security and members of the local bar association have also been invited to attend for lunch and networking. Register by Feb. 5 to secure your spot!

Be a Mentor. Find a Mentor.
The chapter’s mentor program has matched over 50 pairs of mentees and mentors since the program began. With the start of the new semester we will be matching mentor/mentee pairs at TAMUCC, TAMUK and Del Mar. Consider giving your time to mentor an interested accounting student and shed light on what the profession is all about. It’s a small commitment with BIG impact!
