Message from the President
Jeff Smith
Jeff Smith, CPA
The holiday season is around the corner, and 2015 is almost over…already. We still have plenty to do at CCTSCPA. Don’t miss our next CPE luncheon on Nov. 13. We’ll be hearing from the Corpus Christi Police Department (details below).

We’re also kicking off our fourth annual Counting on Santa holiday collection benefiting children served by Catholic Charities. Collection boxes will be available at the November luncheon. Grab one for your office and get in on the fun this year. The collection round-up is planned for Dec. 8.

We’re also finalizing the slate of candidates for the next chapter year. Be sure to submit any nominations by Nov. 4. We’d love the opportunity to help you get more involved and make the most of your membership.

Enjoy the next two months as we wind down another year!

Jeff Smith, CPA

Help Us Meet the 2015 CPA-PAC Fundraising Goal
Our chapter members have consistently supported the Texas Society of CPAs’ CPA-PAC through contributions. If you haven’t made a contribution to the CPA-PAC in 2015, please consider supporting our profession and helping the chapter meet its goal. Seventy-five percent of the funds contributed by our chapter members stay in our chapter to support local lawmakers. The CPA-PAC works for all Texas CPAs to represent our interests in Austin. Your participation makes a difference in the protection of about 800 total CPAs in the Coastal Bend area and over 54,000 CPAs in the state of Texas. Thank you for continuing to keep this profession strong and protected!

Area Students Get Insight at Local Firm Visit
Many thanks to Gowland Strealy Morales & Co. PLLC for hosting more than 20 students from TAMUCC, TAMUK, and Del Mar for a firm visit last month. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from various staff at the firm about their day-to-day activities. Opportunities like this help local students get a greater understanding about the career possibilities available in accounting.
