Message from the President
Can you believe spring is almost here? March 20 is technically the first day of spring, but here in the Coastal Bend we enjoy it much sooner! Thank goodness for that! This is busy season for many of our members, but I hope you’ll take just a quick break to check out what’s happening in our chapter this month. We’re getting ready for our March 27 luncheon where we’ll be honoring the latest scholarship recipients and hearing a CPE presentation from the Federal Reserve. Our speaker, Blake Hastings, was a presenter last year and was very well received. If you can’t sneak away from the office much this spring, we hope you’ll at least be able to get away for this program.

It’s also time to be thinking about our annual chapter awards. I’d love to hear who you’d like to recognize within our chapter for their hard work supporting our profession. We’re lucky to have so many members working together to get things done at CCTSCPA!
Random March event: Exact Pie day! This won’t happen again for another 100 years. Speaking of 100 years, TSCPA is kicking off our yearlong centennial celebration in Dallas! Please join us at the Annual Meeting in Dallas on June 26 and 27!
As always, thank you for your membership and I hope to see you soon!

Chapter President 2014-15
CPE Luncheon and Student Recognition on March 27
This month we will honor local accounting student scholarship recipients and TSCPA’s Accounting Excellence Award winners at our luncheon. Blake Hastings from the Federal Reserve will present a CPE session where attendees will hear an overview of where the U.S. and regional economies are today, including the Dallas Fed's forecast for 2015, Federal Reserve policymakers' concerns and challenges in making future decisions, and information on factors driving economic growth and jobs.
Technology Essentials for Today’s CPA – Bonus Chapter Luncheon Added
TSCPA will host a full-day technology program at the Ortiz Center on April 24. As an added bonus, CCTSCPA will host a chapter CPE luncheon with a presentation on disaster recovery and business continuity planning. That will bring the day’s total to up to nine hours of CPE credit. Register for one or both programs soon to guarantee your spot!

Save the Dates for May Events
Mark your calendars and make plans to participate in some great events planned for the beginning of May. First up is our next Meet the CPAs luncheon at Katz 21 on May 1. Plan to network with local students and enjoy a delicious lunch. May 2 is TSCPA’s statewide CPA Day of Service. The chapter will have a group going to the Food Bank that morning. We’d love to have you join us or participate on your own by giving back to an organization of your choice. And May 8 is our last CPE luncheon before our summer hiatus. Add these items to your list and watch for more participation details coming soon!
