President's Letter

The Chapter will once again be sponsoring the “CPA’s On Call” program during the tax season. We are grateful for Leah Wiggins taking on the task of chairing this committee this year. If anyone would like to volunteer to participate in this event, please contact Chapter Executive Director, Darlene Young. We need as many volunteers for this event as we can get.

The Chapter Board has also begun planning the 2006 CPE Conference and we would like to have new committee members. We are currently discussing new and different ways to put on the conference and we welcome any and all input from Chapter members. The Chapter Board has also discussed the possibility of holding another Scholarship Golf Tournament in late April or May. If anyone has an interest in chairing or sitting on these committees, please contact Darlene.

The Chapter’s next scheduled luncheon will be held on Friday, January 20. As she’s done throughout the year, Diane DeCou has once again brought in a great speaker with an interesting topic, so please be sure to register early. I hope to see many of you there.

And again, good luck with your upcoming busy season!

Sincerely,

Lupe Valdez

TSCPA TIP SHEET

Let a Student Shadow You

For students, Job Shadowing can become the link between academics and careers. For employers, it offers both an introduction to the employees of tomorrow and the opportunity to help students explore career options – and to share what it will take to achieve their goals.

Members in industry are especially encouraged to participate, not only to benefit their employers, but also to expose students to the wide variety of job responsibilities available to them as CPAs in the world of business.

All it takes is a willingness to arrange for a few students to visit your work site so they can see how the real world works. Get all the info you need, click here www.jobshadow.org and find out how to sign up.
